Welcome to Week 3, Term 2

Good afternoon parents,

I hope that all of you amazing mums were well looked after yesterday!

REMINDERS - WEEK 3

NAPLAN - This begins tomorrow morning and the schedule runs as outlined below.

  • Tuesday 15th May - Language Conventions (40 minutes) & Writing (40 minutes).
  • Wednesday 16th May - Reading (45 minutes)
  • Thursday 17th May - Numeracy (45 minutes)
You will see on Tuesday that we have two assessments to complete, we will do one in the first morning session and the second will be after recess.

My focus is on keeping the whole week low key and stress free! I have been reminding the students that this test only tells the assessors a little about their learning...it doesn't tell them about their other talents and strengths. As their cheerleaders, we are only asking for their best effort :)

I will have their tables organised and ready to go for the morning already set up in test conditions. If I can ask if you can make sure they have a good breakfast and are as organised as possible to reduce any stress or concerns.

At the end of each assessment our normal learning program will resume...the Year 3 world doesn't stop!

Casuals for Catholics - Is a free dress day on Friday 18th May. Please encourage your child to bring along a gold coin donation.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 3

Please see below the homework that has been assigned for the week. We have adjusted the homework load this week to keep things moving well at home :)

Reading - All reading is to be written into their new reading log, including the name of the book and number of pages and then signed by you.

Sight Words - If you can please work with your child to complete these every night. It is great to ask your child the definition of the word or to use that word in a sentence as well if you have time?

Mental Maths - Students are to complete Days 1-4 of Unit 13. This is marked daily in class each morning. It is fine if students work ahead on this.

Times Tables - Activity Sheet - 3 x Times Tables. Students are asked to write out their tables in order on Monday and Tuesday nights and then complete them out of order on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Have a great week,

Mrs Delane
