Welcome to the Last Week!

Image
Good evening parents, Welcome to the last week of Term 2...it is certainly different to this time last term and I for one; am very grateful! Last week was a fantastic one with a real highlight being the speeches that the students presented...I learnt a lot about a wide range of people and I was so proud of the students for being so brave to get up in front of their peers. Great life skills, right there! REMINDERS - WEEK 10  Arrival at school - Over the last few weeks we have had an increase in the number of students arriving to school late. Whilst I can certainly appreciate that our mornings don't always go to plan, it is important that the students are arriving in class by 8.30am. This is a really important time for them to check in and get settled for the day, not to mention put in lunch orders, hand in notes and take a breath to get set for the day.  During this time I am asking the students to check in via the Reflect App, this is a fantastic resource that helps

Good morning parents, Welcome to the week...I hope those that camped out over the weekend are feeling well and rested! Thanks so much to our parent reps for organising such a wonderful event for our families, I appreciated being included and it is one of the many things that I love about our school! REMINDERS - WEEK 9  General Check In & Chat - Just so you are aware, Ben and I had a chat with both classes this morning to address some small issues that have been popping up over the last couple of weeks. There have been some incidences of mean on purpose and/or socially unkind behaviour. We discussed the importance of being patient with others, choosing kind words, including others and keeping comments about other people's food, bodies, hair or other items to themselves.  We encouraged the students to remember that if they are having any issues with anyone that they have some strategies to use.  These include: Using their quick comeback - "Hey!", "

Good afternoon parents, We are off to another fantastic start here in 4DEL!  REMINDERS - WEEK 8   Year 4 Family Catch Up - is on this weekend, looking forward to seeing you all! Thanks so much for the invitation!! Science Assessment - we will be having our assessment this Thursday. I will be going through some study notes with the students tomorrow so they feel comfortable and  confident! Hair Cuts - can I please ask that you take some time to check in with your child's fringe. If they are having to flip it out of the way or it falls when their head is down, please book them in for a cut. As mentioned previously, this is a condition of our uniform policy. In the meantime, I am very good at throwing together a top knot! Homework - I know it is everyone's least favourite topic of conversation but I am having over 50% of the class not bringing their complete homework in. It is mostly that their Learning Grid has not been filled in/signed. This is your child'

Good afternoon parents, I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend...my family and I ventured to the Big Smoke to see my mum for the first time since the travel restrictions had been lifted.  It was lovely to see her and check out all the changes that have occurred since we last went to Perth! I won't lie...I do love it when I hit that Vasse roundabout to chuck a right to come home!! REMINDERS - WEEK 7  Laptops - This proved to be a MAJOR problem this week...I feel as if I jinxed this after my post last week. I had multiple students every day that had either forgotten their laptops or they ran out of charge. Whilst I continually repeat that we can cope without laptops (and we can) please know that your child not having theirs present or operational has a huge impact. A few students threw their parents under the bus saying that mum or dad must have taken it off charge to plug in their phones! If your child can have a designated spot and days that they charg

Good evening parents, Welcome to Week 6, I hope that you enjoyed an extra long weekend...it was lovely to not have to set the alarm last night!! REMINDERS - WEEK 6  Egg Drop Problem - I sent a reminder text tonight reminding the students about bringing in their materials for our Technologies session tomorrow. The students were asked to create a product that would protect a hard boiled egg from being broken when dropped from a height of 1m. Maths Assessment - We will be having our assessment on our unit on multiplication and division on Friday 5th June.  Laptop Care - The last couple of weeks I have had a steady increase in laptops being forgotten and coming to school not charged. Whilst all of our lessons can be completed with or without tech, it is at times difficult for the students to proceed without the supporting tech. If you can please support your child to please make sure they have a habit of not just plugging the laptop in but also turning the 'on' s
