Week 5, Term 2

Good evening everyone,

Apologies for the delay in getting this post out to you...we were without power until 2.15 today which was a challenge to say the least. The kids were beyond amazed that we could actually continue learning things without our laptops! Who knew?!

The weather was certainly interesting today...I find it so hard to believe that Mother Nature knows the exact start, recess, lunch and end of day time for every school in the world! On cue, she lets us know that the earth is thirsty...!

I came across this image yesterday and those of you that know me well will know that I am all about a positive quote or affirmation! I feel these pop up when we need to see them. This is one that I will be sharing with the kids in class this week as I feel it is so relevant for all of us...everyone needs help sometimes and it takes such courage to ask for it. I know this is something I struggle with a lot!! I have printed this one out and stuck it on my fridge.

REMINDERS - WEEK 5

PICK UP & DROP OFF - As you will have noticed in the last weeks, the pick up lanes have had an absolute work out. All staff appreciate your patience in waiting and adherence to the rules that have been set out...we are all doing our best to get the children to their cars as quickly and as safely as possible.

Please note that students are being released at 2.50pm in order to allow older siblings to collect younger ones and get to their designate lane on time.

NATURALISTE FREE DRESS DAY - This Friday 29th May, students in Naturaliste will be allowed to wear free dress to celebrate their awesomeness in amassing the highest number of tokens and MJR awards.

OUR LEARNING - WEEK 4/5

Our information reports on our object of interest are coming along nicely, we looked at the value of adding in relevant and important information to help with informing our readers about our object. I am looking forward to reading these for sure as there is such a wide range of objects that have been chosen!

In our maths lessons we have been looking at the relationship between multiplication...as your child to tell you what multiplication and division are to each other...fingers crossed they give you the right answer and it makes you giggle! We have just begun looking at short division with and without remainders...apologies for the many many many references to Twirl Bites!

In our design technologies session today, the students were tasked with the Egg Drop Problem. They are to create a product that will protect a hard boiled egg from being broken...this ties in all of our previous lessons as well as our STEM Friday sessions which have been an absolute blast! We will be rolling this production line out next Tuesday!

Today the students chose their partners, created their designs and came up with their list of materials that they will need to bring in. Stay tuned, I am blown away already!

In our session last week we looked at the perfect paper plane...students were then tasked with landing them in certain zones. Well done to our winners Elliott and Xavier G...their plane flew for ages!

Check out our slo mo throw...hope it works!

HOMEWORK - WEEK 5

It's back baby...a reminder that your child has a LCWC to complete each night along with some reading and some times tables practice.

I am also asking the students to complete 4 boxes from the list each week and I am keen for them to try something different each week...I am more than happy for you to write own choice anywhere that you see fit.

I would like to bring students focus back to completing these tasks and being in the habit of bringing it in on Friday.

Wishing you a warm and cozy week!

Mrs Delane
