Welcome Back to Term 4!

 Good morning 4DEL parents,

Welcome back for Term 4 of 2022...can you believe how fast the year has gone!

I thoroughly enjoyed my Long Service Leave...I spent lots of it driving to and from Busselton, cleaning out cupboards and enjoying being home with the fire whilst my dog lay on the couch...I have lots of photos on my phone of my dog being adorable whilst laying on the couch or coffee table and I can't delete a single one!

I would like to offer my hugest and most sincere thanks to Mrs Gleeson and Miss Gilpin for their exceptionally hard work in my absence.

I have received a thorough handover from both Claire and Ness in regards to parent meetings and anything that came up during the term that I need to be aware of.

If there are any concerns or follow up needed on my end, I will be in touch in the coming weeks.

I had such confidence knowing that they would keep things running smoothly and our beautiful kids would continue to thrive and work hard in class!

Thank you both so very much!

This is a reporting term so it will be a busy one, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about how your child is progressing.

Pre-Service Teacher - I am very excited to let you know that we will be welcoming Miss Alix Cain to 4DEL beginning Thursday this week.

Miss Cain is a third year, pre-service teacher coming from ECU in Perth. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to come and observe the school and classroom environment and under my supervision she will be taking on some of the teaching load for the term.

Miss Cain will be with us full time beginning in Week 2 all the way through to the end of Week 5.

A few reminders for the start of Term 4...

Uniform - Please pull these out, preferably before Monday morning to make sure that your child's uniform fits comfortably and complies with our uniform policy. Please make any necessary orders and of course, there is a two week changeover period so please don't stress if you're waiting on anything.

Just check in on haircuts too please, make sure that if hair is past the collar of your child's uniform that it is tied back and their face is clear. Book in those appointments for the coming week if needed.

I also suggest pulling out the school bag and checking for mouldy bananas...speaking from experience it is a less than ideal start to the term!

If you can also check in with your child to see if they need any additional stationery items and please send them in accordingly - red and blue pens and those pesky glue sticks are always the first to go missing!

We are in once again for a busy term, please see the Term calendar attached...a few dates to note!

SMMC School Feeder Day - Please make sure that you have signed and returned the permission slip for Friday 14th October.

All students will attend even if your child is not going to be attending SMMC.

Grandparents Day - This will be celebrated on Friday 28th October so please make sure that your child has taken the time to invite their grandparents along if possible.

Further details about the day will follow soon!

  • Swimming Carnival - Friday, 4th November
  • Pupil Free Day - Friday,  11th November
  • Christmas Concert - Wednesday 7th December

Our Learning...

This term we will be busy once again! In our Literacy sessions we will be working on our reading comprehension in our guided reading sessions as well as keeping up to date with current events via BTN.

We will be looking at the Procedure writing genre this term which allows loads of fun...keep an ear out for how to make toast!

In Maths we will be kicking off with learning about time, it is helpful in this digital world to draw attention particularly to how much time has passed.

If you can incorporate into your conversations things like...if it is x time now and we need to be there by X, what time do we need to leave...or how long have you been playing on the XBox if you turned it on at 9am. These help to draw attention to elapsed time which is most important.

Our Health unit is focusing on a look inside the human body, taking a deeper look to learn more about the respiratory, digestive, circulatory and skeletal systems which is going to be super fun!

Our HASS work will be focused around significant environments. These lessons focus on the investigation of the significance of the natural environment of Australia.

We will learn about what living things need to survive and how they interact and rely on specific natural environments for this survival. We will also be thinking about what humans need to survive and how they source these things.

Our first Religion unit for the term will be looking at how people belong and participate in communities.

We will be discussing the different types of communities that we belong to and the roles we play within these...it would be great if you can draw your child's attention to the different communities that they may be involved in outside of the school and family.

This helps the students to understand that they have many people that they are connected to and helps them to know there are people that love and care for them!

Again, I would like to say how much I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful children back in class on Monday morning!

We are so lucky that our Covid restrictions are now lifted, this means you are welcome on school grounds and in class!

Popping in to say hi or check out our room or to see me is a great way for us to strengthen our class community connections!!

It would be great to see you at our Assemblies if you are able to make them.

These will continue to be held on Friday afternoon beginning at 2.20pm unless otherwise notified!

Enjoy the rest of the day and I will hopefully see you through the week!

Kindest regards,

Mrs Delane
