Welcome to the Last Week!

Good evening parents,

Welcome to the last week of Term 2...it is certainly different to this time last term and I for one; am very grateful!

Last week was a fantastic one with a real highlight being the speeches that the students presented...I learnt a lot about a wide range of people and I was so proud of the students for being so brave to get up in front of their peers. Great life skills, right there!

REMINDERS - WEEK 10

Arrival at school - Over the last few weeks we have had an increase in the number of students arriving to school late. Whilst I can certainly appreciate that our mornings don't always go to plan, it is important that the students are arriving in class by 8.30am. This is a really important time for them to check in and get settled for the day, not to mention put in lunch orders, hand in notes and take a breath to get set for the day.

During this time I am asking the students to check in via the Reflect App, this is a fantastic resource that helps the students to take a mindful minute and think about how they are feeling. It also asks them to explain why they are feeling the way they do.

This check in is a fantastic and invaluable resource for me to keep an eye on how the students are doing...who is feeling pumped or who is feeling a little stressed or down and why. I can then touch base with them during the day to offer some support if needed.

If your child arrives after 8.40am, an adult must walk them into school and sign them in through the office. You are not able to drop them off for them to walk in on their own. I appreciate your support in this.

Assessments - Over the last couple of weeks we have completed a number of assessments. On Friday, the students created an Assessment section in One Note, in here they have placed a photo of the assessments completed this term including their results. The hard copy of the assessments is placed in their Assessment folder if you wish to have a look.

I asked the students to show this to you over the weekend, if they haven't already done so, can I please ask you to check these out.

We did also record their speeches last week for you to check out if you haven't already, apologies if the sound is not the best!

Semester 2 - We have been working so hard these last two terms that for most students their writing and maths books are full. We will be starting a new book for each of these next term so if I can ask you to check their spares or purchase a couple of new exercise books ready for next term please.

Cross Country - Is on this Wednesday 1st July, I am unsure at this stage what time the Year 4's will be running...once I find out a rough idea of time I will let you know. Please refer to the newsletter for instructions on where to park and stand to get the best view of your child.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 10

Your child is to complete their reading, spelling and tables practice each night. We are also asking the students to complete 4 different activities over the week before giving it to you to be signed.

Thank you all very much for a fantastic term, it sure has been different but I am so very grateful to you all for your care and support! I hope that you all enjoy a wonderful, restful and safe break!

Safe and happy travels to those of you venturing away, I look forward to seeing you all next term.

Kind regards,

Caitlin
