What...It's Week 5?!

Good afternoon!

What a weekend...amazing how a bit of sunshine can invigorate and lift the spirits. I for one, am tired of being cold!

We had a fantastic carnival on Friday with the Year 4's representing their factions so well, they cheered hard and swam their little hearts out. I slept hard on Friday, I hope your guys did too!

Congratulations to Floss, Sienna, Jett and Hamish for their individual achievements of Champion and Runner Ups...well done guys!

Our character strength for this week is a great one and quite timely I feel. Perhaps you can take some time this week to discuss as a family where you can see this strength at play.

WHAT IS CREATIVITY?

Creativity is thinking of new ways to do things.

It involves producing ideas or behaviours that are original and useful.

There are two essential components to Creativity- originality and adaptiveness.

A creative individual generates ideas or behaviours that are interesting or unusual and make a positive contribution to the individual's life or the lives of others.

A short one this week...

Pupil Free Day - A reminder that you get a sleep in on Friday as we have a pupil free day. As a staff we will gather to dive deep into the Judging Standards which are one of the main frameworks that inform our assessing of student learning.

Enjoy the day off!

Head Lice - These guys are back in town, please give your child's hair a through check for just in case. If any lice are presents, if you start any treatments today your child is all good for school tomorrow!

PAT Catch Ups - I will have students that missed any of these assessments this week complete them in the coming days. Please make sure that your child is coming with their laptop charged each day.

Farewell Miss Cain - The time has come for Miss Cain to finish up her time in 4DEL which has come around super fast!

She has been an amazing member of our class, always willing to help and have a laugh which has been so fun!

The students have loved having her teaching them and we wish her all the very best for her future teaching career!

Our Learning...

We have been working hard on drafting and editing our own procedures...these will be completed this week and ready for display. We will then move on to reviewing the writing genres covered this year beginning with narratives.

In maths we are working on data collection with a focus on dot plots and Venn diagrams!

We will also be moving into reviewing the major concepts that we have covered this year to assess any elements that may require some more review.

Our HASS unit has been looking at endangered animals and what we can do to protect these species...we will be placing these on See Saw once they are complete for you to look at!

In health, Miss Cain has been taking the students through the Digestive and Circulatory systems. We have a great display up in class mapping the main elements of each of these incredible systems at work in our bodies.

Wishing you a fantastic week!

Mrs Delane xx
