Week 8 Information

Good afternoon parents,

We are off to another fantastic start here in 4DEL!

REMINDERS - WEEK 8

Year 4 Family Catch Up - is on this weekend, looking forward to seeing you all! Thanks so much for the invitation!!

Science Assessment - we will be having our assessment this Thursday. I will be going through some study notes with the students tomorrow so they feel comfortable and
confident!

Hair Cuts - can I please ask that you take some time to check in with your child's fringe. If they are having to flip it out of the way or it falls when their head is down, please book them in for a cut. As mentioned previously, this is a condition of our uniform policy. In the meantime, I am very good at throwing together a top knot!

Homework - I know it is everyone's least favourite topic of conversation but I am having over 50% of the class not bringing their complete homework in. It is mostly that their Learning Grid has not been filled in/signed. This is your child's responsibility but I would appreciate it if you could chase them up on Thursday night.

Wheels after Meals - Next week on Monday 22nd June, the Year Three and Four students have the opportunity to particpate in this super fun initiative. Please see the email from Mr Lee. Permission slips need to be in to me by Friday 19th June.

OUR LEARNING - WEEK 7/8

We are working hard to finish up our information reports and we are excited and nervous about getting ready to present them from next week. We had a chat with the students today to let them know that as of Monday 22nd June, we will be having small groups present their person to the class. The students will be working on their presentations in class and we are asking for lots of practice at home.

Your child is invited to dress up as their person if they wish to do so.

I understand that the idea of presenting in front of their classmates is very daunting for some, this is one of the more difficult challenges in life to overcome but I am very confident in our beautiful kids!

Please see the schedule below for the day that your child will be presenting.

Our maths sessions have seen us working hard on measuring and converting units of length, the students had a great time working out if there was a correlation between a person's height and how far they can jump. Surprisingly it came out anecdotally that there was no relation...that we could find! As a class we decided that it was more based on a person's strength and fitness rather than height!

In our technologies sessions we began a new task today...students were tasked with renovating the classroom! This combines a lot of the work that we have been doing about systems and how things work and flow together. It will incorporate a variety of skills including design and mapping. Students will need to plan out and then map how they would change the classroom, we discussed some things that were non negotiable such as windows and doors but some students still thought that a bulldozer would be the way to go! The student that presents the best plan will have the strength of 4DEL behind them as we transform our classroom to reflect their design...stay tuned!

Our STEM Friday sessions continue to be super fun! The students are hard at work on their board games and we hope to get them finished this week so that we can trial them next week. There are some very creative minds out there and I can't wait to try the games!!

HOMEWORK - WEEK 8

Please follow up with your child to make sure that they are completing a variety of activities from their Learning Grid and are bringing it to you to get signed.

Have a great week!

Mrs Delane
