Week 5 Update - Hump Week!

Image
Good afternoon parents, For those looking for an embarrassing or dramatic story this week, I am sorry to disappoint!  This weekend has been all about a bit of family time and for me, catching up on a the last two Matthew Reilly novels...knocked those out yesterday so hit me up if you have any recommendations!  I also finished the Will Smith autobiography this week if anyone is looking for a really great read! It has been an interesting week trying to process what is happening here in WA as well as what is happening overseas...I can't even imagine what it must be like for families just like us to be gripped by war.  Like many parents, I am struggling  to explain it to my own children who have some grasp of what is happening but also a child like fear as well...I just don't know what to say? With this in mind, you may have seen on Facebook that as a school community, we are offering families the opportunity to attend a prayer vigil on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 4pm on our

Welcome To Week 4

Good afternoon parents, Welcome to Week 4...apologies for the delay in getting a post out this week!  I was lucky enough to head up to Perth this weekend to celebrate my son's 13th birthday.  All he wanted to do was go to Adventure World with a couple of friends and it was all good until I had to prove that I could be a cool mum and go on The Abyss with the kids... I can not stress enough how much of not a roller coaster person I am...according to Mark (who did not go on the ride I might add!) I only had to be brave for 23 seconds.  This is something that resonates with me quite often as I am a huge scaredy cat, but I gathered my bravery and off we went.  What we hadn't seen was the inside part where it's completely dark and you go round and round inside whilst being upside down...it turned out I actually had to be brave for 45 seconds which is much, much longer!  Not the best photo ever taken but it is one that has been shared with pretty much everyone I know so I thought

We have had a fantastic start to the term and look forward to it continuing! Please use the link below to access our presentation. Welcome to Week 3!

Good afternoon parents, Welcome to Week3! Thank you for al your efforts in supporting your gorgeous children through the first couple of weeks of term...they were amazing during swimming and super responsible with their belongings and behaviour during their lessons! They did themselves and their families proud. Our focus character strength for this week is... Creativity . WHAT IS CREATIVITY? Creativity is thinking of new ways to do things. It involves producing ideas or behaviors that are original. However, originality is not enough: whatever is created, whether an idea or a product, must also be useful or adaptable.  For example, you might write a blog post that is unique because it is entirely gibberish. That’s not going to be useful, so it would not be considered creative. There are two essential components to Creativity- originality and adaptiveness.  A creative individual generates ideas or behaviors that are novel or unusual and these make a positive contribution to the individua

Welcome to Week 2!

Good afternoon parents, Kaya, wanjoo...it's Week 2! I hope that you enjoyed the weekend...a mix of beautiful sunshine followed up with a cool change and plenty of rain for the garden. A good excuse to curl up and finish my book if I ever needed one.  I hope that you had some time to rest and recharge after a busy start back to school. I would like to say a massive thank you to you all for having the students so well prepared.  They came with all the bits and bobs needed to get underway and a positive attitude which has made this an absolutely wonderful start to term...I feel very blessed to be working with your beautiful children this year and I look forward to getting to know them better as the term progresses. As a whole school, each week we choose a particular character strength to discuss and unpack and then look for where we see our classmates, friends and adults around us using this strength.  It helps the students to identify their strengths within them and how they can use
