Welcome to Week 3!
Good afternoon parents,
Welcome to Week3!
Thank you for al your efforts in supporting your gorgeous children through the first couple of weeks of term...they were amazing during swimming and super responsible with their belongings and behaviour during their lessons! They did themselves and their families proud.
Our focus character strength for this week is...Creativity.
WHAT IS CREATIVITY?
Creativity is thinking of new ways to do things. It involves producing ideas or behaviors that are original. However, originality is not enough: whatever is created, whether an idea or a product, must also be useful or adaptable.
For example, you might write a blog post that is unique because it is entirely gibberish. That’s not going to be useful, so it would not be considered creative.
There are two essential components to Creativity- originality and adaptiveness.
A creative individual generates ideas or behaviors that are novel or unusual and these make a positive contribution to the individual's life or the lives of others group.
Pope Francis says: "Grow in creativity, do not be afraid".
A Few Reminders...
PAT Testing - This week we will begin our PAT Assessments. These are online assessments that are completed twice a year in the areas of Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar & Punctuation and Maths. We will also be giving the students an AGAT test which looks at a students general reasoning ability.
Please make sure that your child is bringing their laptops to school each day, charged and ready to go!
Hair Cuts - Just a reminder that as per our uniform policy all hair must be neatly tied up and off a child's face. This includes the fringe as well as hair that falls below the collar for both boys and girls.
Can I ask that you please take a moment to check your child's luscious locks to ensure that they comply with current regulations and book an appointment if necessary.
Save the Date - First Eucharist - We are underway in our preparations in the hope that we will be able to celebrate our First Eucharist on the weekend of the 26th/27th March.
We are working with Bishop Gerard's office to confirm if this is able to go ahead and what it may look like in line with adhering to COVID Protocols. As soon as I hear anything I will let you know.
Parent Information - We will be sending out a link to the presentation that we had planned for our information evening that has now been cancelled.
I will have this information ready to be sent by 5pm on Tuesday.
A link to this presentation will be placed on my classroom blog and I will notify you once this has occurred...if you have any questions following on from this presentation, please feel free to get in touch!
Homework - Week 3
On your child's One Note section called Homework, you will see a Reading Log that looks the same as the image above.
Your child is asked to record their reading in this log each week (they can type directly into it) and we are asking you to make a comment about their reading for the week.
For example, they showed great expression, excellent sounding out or better pace and fluency. You might simply write that you loved hearing them read!
They will also have an individualised times tables focus - they are to choose a set of tables each week that they find most challenging. This will be set up in their homework books and will need to be marked at the end of the week ready to be brought in on Friday morning. Reading logs will also be checked on Friday mornings as well.
They are not to pick their 2, 5 or 10 times tables as they should be proficient in these already and being looking to improve on the more tricky ones and to challenge themselves. They will need to change their tables each week.
This will be explained to the students tomorrow in detail so they understand what they need to do.
See Saw - As the term progresses we will be uploading some of our great work for you to look at.
This has been delayed a little with swimming over the past two weeks but we are looking forward to regular programming continuing this week!
Wishing you all a fantastic week!
Mrs Delane
