Welcome to Week 4!

Image
Good morning parents, Another glorious weekend filled with sunshine and adulty jobs that are so satisfying! I hope that you have all enjoyed the weekend, especially those that went away for the annual Year 4 family weekend...what an amazing tradition!  I am sure the kids really enjoyed this opportunity to connect to their classmates and other families, get some rides in, yummy lunch and a spot of shopping in Cotton On!  What a surprise to see a small crew checking out the latest addition to Margies! Our Character Strength that we are focusing on this week is: Love of Learning. This is a super important skill as those for whom this is a strength have an amazing capacity to engage and encourage and inspire others around them.  When this one came up, it prompted me to think about what I have learnt lately...I realised it is lots of pop culture things, mostly associated with my own children as I try (and I emphasise...TRY!) to keep up with what they are into in a non-try hard way! A few re

Week 3 Update

Helooooooo, What a weekend, isn't it amazing the difference a little bit of sunshine can make to your mood.?!  I for one felt much better waking up knowing that it was going to be a little warmer...my poor little washing machine got a workout, beds were stripped and the flannies were put on the bench in time for the cotton comeback!  I've either gone too early and we will all freeze or I have totally smashed this adulting gig! An afternoon spent down at Karridale with one of my first teaching buddies and his family was a beautiful way to close out a thoroughly satisfying day! I am not too sure about croquet on the lawn...the hockey player in me just wanted to go full Happy Gilmore!! Wide open windows and fresh air means a trip to Bunnings to welcome some more indoor plants to the family...it is the simplest things for sure! I hope that you have all enjoyed some Vitamin D and are feeling happy and well ready for a new week of all things learning in 4DEL! A few reminders... Spee

Science - I Feel The Need...The Need for Speed!

Good evening parents! The Mad Scientists are at it again!!  Today we began our planning for our next experiment, relax, this one doesn't involve an oral presentation and it is not necessary to be working on this at home! In our Physical Sciences Unit this term we are learning about Forces and how they can act on objects, to this end, we are working on creating our own Speed Racers in which we will have the chance to learn about the importance of thrust force. I put a request into the 4DEL Blog, asking for any donations of milk bottle lids...once we have finished with these, we will then pop them into the central collection spot to be recycled so they won't go to waste. I have placed a copy of the this note below in each student's One Note folder in the Science Section for them to refer to over the coming days. Our plan is to begin building these next Thursday, 28th October during our Science lessons so any cardboard and milk tops will need to be in by then! We will also be

Week 2 Comin At Ya!

Good afternoon parents, I hope you enjoyed the sunshine yesterday...we were lucky enough to spend the weekend in Binningup with my best friend and her family and we got to hit the beach and enjoy the freezing cold water. We then went over to the Brunswick Tavern for lunch...soooooo good! Highly recommend it if you're looking for a road trip destination. A visit to Wellington Dam rounded out the day before heading back to the beach before the weather turned. Many games of Rummy O and Monopoly were played which was super fun...I am super proud but kind of bummed that Ella always seems to win at Monopoly...she is ruthless! Unfortunately we had to head off a bit early as Tobes picked up a touch of food poisoning which was not the best way to end the weekend...fingers crossed its nothing worse and he starts to feel better soon! SMMC Excursion - We had a fantastic time visiting SMMC on Friday and your child will have brought home a prospectus for you to peruse. If you did not receive one

Good afternoon parents, I hope that you have enjoyed a restful break and everyone is feeling recharged and rested, ready for our final term together!  I am looking forward to welcoming the students back into class on Monday and I can't wait to hear about what they have been up to. I spent the two weeks gaining my Taxi Driver's Accreditation and according to my two main passengers, except for the singing I am a competent taxi driver!  When I wasn't in the car I was enjoying lots of puppy walks and catching up on Netflix...some good stuff at the moment! Very much looking forward to a proper start to Summer...soooooooooo ready to switch out the wardrobe! A few reminders for the start of the term... Taste of SMMC - Just a reminder that all Year 4 students will be heading off on Friday to experience some of the delights of SMMC. If your child has not returned their permission slip and you need another copy, please let me know and I will send one home with your child on Monday.
