Week 4

Good afternoon parents,

I hope that your team had a win over the weekend...lots of talking points!

I would like to congratulate all of the students involved in our beautiful mass on Friday morning. I was very proud of all of the students, those that read, carried up items and supported their class mates. I have received lots of positive feedback from the parishioners in attendance and the other teachers.

REMINDERS - WEEK 4

Mission Market Donations - On Wednesday 15th August we will be celebrating our Feast Day. We will begin with Mass at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church beginning at 9.30am. You are warmly invited to attend if you can.

As a secondary part of our day we also have our annual Mission Markets - all money raised goes to support the Caritas mission and it is always a fantastic day!

This year, the Year 3D students will be hosting the 'Toilet Paper Toss' stall during this time! I have asked a couple of parents if they are able to help me with the construction...if you are able to help can you please let me know!

If I can ask all 3D families to send in:

  • 1 packet of wrapped chocolates ( Freddo Frogs, Mars Bars, Boost etc....)
and
  • 1 block of chocolate to be used as prizes. Please remember to choose a block that does not contain any nuts!
If you can have your chocolates in by Monday 13th August.

I will purchase toilet paper for the students to use.

For this day, we ask that you send your child in with a small amount of money to spend in smaller denominations...think 10c, 20c 50c or $1 etc. Please make sure that it is in a wallet, purse or zip loc bag that is clearly labelled.

Exercise Books & Stationery - If I can ask you to please check your child's stationery...many students have no glue, scissors or pencils. A large number of students also need replacement exercise books as they have filled them. If you can please send in 3-5 extra books in the coming days.

Shoebox Appeal - please see the separate post on our blog.

Haircuts - A reminder that all fringes need to be pinned back.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 4

Reading - Please note, I have not sent home a reading log this week as many are not being filled out. I would love it if you can encourage your child to read at night when they hop into bed. Home readers will still be sent home.

Please note - Reading books are to be changed on a Monday only.

Spelling - Students are to complete a LCWC of their list words for the week.

Sight Words - If you can please work with your child to complete these every night.

Mental Maths - Students are to complete Days 1-4 of Unit 23 This is marked daily in class each morning. It is fine if students work ahead on this.

Times Tables - Activity Sheet - 4 Times Tables. Students are asked to write out their tables in order on Monday and Tuesday nights and then complete them out of order on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you a fantastic week,

Mrs Delane
