Welcome to Week 2

Good afternoon 4DEL parents,

I hope you had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather from yesterday and into today...I know it is going to change soon but I have loved it thus far!

I would like to take a moment to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the hard yards that you, the parents have been putting into your child's learning.

I have also appreciated the support that I have received coming back to school this week...I have said it before and I WILL say it again...you are an incredibly supportive parent group and I am so lucky to have you in these incredibly tricky times...so thank you!

As the number of students coming back to school continues to rise, I have had to make some changes to our check in meeting times for maths and literacy in particular in order to cater for those in class and at home.

I will currently have 15 students in class and as this number climbs, please note that I will need to look at the face to face time that my online learners will be getting. I will let you know as the needs of the class change. I will be setting up my computer to record the lessons that I am delivering to my students in class and your child will be able to join these too.

As I mentioned in my last post, please do what works for you and your situation at home. The times in my daily work pad are what we will be following in class.

We will also be heading back to our specialist teachers next week so you will notice the timetable looks a little different from last week.

I have updated the calendar on our Year 4DEL Teams to reflect these time changes as well as including them in the updated timetable so I encourage you to have a look with your child please.

As we are now back into a full week, you will notice that we will be having reading groups and spelling for this week. I will reintroduce homework as of next week.

As per last week, all work has been distributed through One Note and Teams is our central point for check ins and to ask any questions.

Any students that are returning to school for the first time tomorrow, can you please make sure that they bring ALL of their books back with them.

Mrs Delane's Book Club -

For those of you that are looking for some new reading material, I have just finished up a few great ones that I can highly recommend.

1 - The Resilience Project - Hugh van Cuylenburg...I may be the last person on earth to have read this but if you haven't already, please do yourself a favour and grab a copy from Text & Co. There is also a fantastic App that goes with this that really focuses on the main concepts of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness that are found in the book. A great one for the whole family to do. I found out you can create mulitple accounts on your phone so the kids can do it too!

2 - The Little Book of Hygge - Meik Wiking...I think I am a small part Danish as this was a gorgeous book that reminded me of all those little things that bring me the feeling of genuine contentment...insert sigh here...

3 - The Lost Man - Jane Harper...a cracker read that kept me guessing!! She has a couple of others called The Dry and Forces of Nature which are also very good!

I am on the hunt for new reading material so if you have any good recommendations, please shoot them through! I am rereading all of my Matthew Reilly for the hundredth time!!

Have a fantastic week and stay dry!

Mrs Delane
