Welcome to Week 4

 Good evening parents,

Welcome to the new week here in 4DEL...I hope you had a good weekend? Today was a perfect day for settling in front of the fire after I had completed all my chores...loving this 20 days of footy!

REMINDERS - WEEK 4

Throws and Jumps - These will be completed during our sports lessons over the next two weeks. If possible, it would be great if your child could wear their faction t-shirt on Thursday please.

I am aware that some students will be competing in the State Cross Country Champs this week and this will mean that they will be doing their throws/jumps with 4DAN on Wednesday...totes get it...good luck to all our fabulous runners. Enjoy the opportunity and we can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. You can wear your sports uniform on Wednesday!

Maths Test - Time - We have moved this to this Friday 15th August to give the students a little more time to work on calculating elapsed time and review their time telling skills!

OUR LEARNING

We have been working hard during our maths sessions and have been having fun playing Time Detectives to solve some different real life problems. As mentioned above we will be having our assessment this week which will be looking at students being able to:

  • Tell time - what time is being shown on an analogue or digital clock, including being able to identify am and pm time.
  • Represent time - draw hands on a clock to show a given time
  • Time Facts - how many seconds/minutes/hours/days/month etc. in a given time.
  • Calculate elapsed time - how much time has passed and then being able to represent this in hours and minutes etc.
In our next unit we will be moving on to looking at lines and angles and we have a really fun and creative activity for the students to work on to show their mad designer skills!

In Religion we have been looking at how Jesus expresses his emotions in loving ways and how we can be like him and express loving and caring emotions towards our family and friends. In MJR we talked about the importance of acknowledging that we can at times make mistakes and that's okay...the important part is being self-aware so we can fix up any hurts that we may have caused.

Our Science lessons have been focused around identifying the different properties in materials and their different uses as well as where we can find them around our school. The students had a great time conducting their investigation.

In our Design Technologies unit, we are looking at potato planting this week...we are looking at the ideal conditions to grow them as well as the equipment that is used in farming them! This is all part of our unit that is looking at food and fibre production in Australia.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 4
  • Spelling - LCWC each night - please make sure that you or your child is MARKING their words each night.
  • Tables practice
  • Reading - out loud 10-15 minutes each night
  • Additional Homework - At various times through the week and into the term I may send home work to be completed that has not been completed in the given class time. I will always make sure that there is a reasonable time limit given to hand the work back in and please know, class time has always been given to complete it.
Have a fantastic week and stay warm!
