Week 9 Is here!

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome to the week...it has been a slightly disappointing one in the Delane household as Ella's hockey team was knocked out of the finals in the second set of one on ones...so not a fun way to lose!

Although after being 1-0 down all game she scored the goal to tie it up and force the one on ones, she made the first but missed the second and our goalie who had played an absolute blinder just couldn't sustain it.

We then front up to Bovell on Saturday morning for what we knew would be a tough game for the boys! It sure was, Saints had us early but then we made it back in the third and fourth quarter to bring it to 8 points but we just couldn't get there!

Overall an excellent representation for Dunsborough football with 5 teams in the GF's, we managed the silverware on 2 which is a great sign for Dunsborough football! Although disappointed I am finding the joy in my week suddenly looking a whole lot more open!

Focus Character Strength - This week we are focusing on what is in my opinion, one of the most important character strengths and one that certainly ranked VERY highly for a number of students in 4DEL and one we see in many of the stories of Jesus.

One of the questions I ask my kids once they've stopped hoovering up their dinner is "where did you see someone being kind today?" and then "when were you kind to someone today?" These simple questions have prompted some interesting conversations, particularly when they struggle to think of something!

Excursion - The week is shaping up to be another exciting one for Year 4 as we are heading off tomorrow on our excursion to Margaret River Rotary Park!

I would like to thank Justin Ryan, Jordy Hall, Bianca Todd, Beck Torr and Leah Reilly for volunteering their time to come with us!

Parent helpers - I will email you a copy of the excursion booklet for you to have a look at and familiarise yourself with the schedule for the day.

SMMC Excursion Notes - A reminder please if your child has not returned their permission slip for this excursion happening on the 15th October to please do so as soon as possible. Let me know if you need another copy!

Science Presentations - Please make sure that you are checking in with your child to see how they are going with these.

All supporting materials have been placed on One Note in their Science folder if they need to refer to it. I have placed a sample Power Point for them to look at if needed - this is only content and has nothing pretty on it!

I want them to be making sure that they have included all elements in their presentation before they spend hours down the rabbit hole working on their font, graphics and transitions!

I will advise the students this week when they will be presenting. I do appreciate that it can be a daunting task to present in front of their peers, it will be a low key event for them all and a positive experience. I will give the students time in class to create their palm cards to use.

I would appreciate it if you could take the time to watch them practice their presentation before their date and offer encouraging feedback so they are feeling confident with their presentation skills and their knowledge of their presentation...I don't want them to stand up and read their presentation off their palm cards or the board.

We will record our presentations and the students will upload them along with my feedback into See Saw for Week 10.

Any students that are away for Week 10 will still be marked on the work that they have done and I will ask them to still record themselves doing their presentations if possible.

Wishing you all an awesome week!

Caitlin
