Science - I Feel The Need...The Need for Speed!
Good evening parents!
The Mad Scientists are at it again!!
Today we began our planning for our next experiment, relax, this one doesn't involve an oral presentation and it is not necessary to be working on this at home!
In our Physical Sciences Unit this term we are learning about Forces and how they can act on objects, to this end, we are working on creating our own Speed Racers in which we will have the chance to learn about the importance of thrust force.
I put a request into the 4DEL Blog, asking for any donations of milk bottle lids...once we have finished with these, we will then pop them into the central collection spot to be recycled so they won't go to waste.
I have placed a copy of the this note below in each student's One Note folder in the Science Section for them to refer to over the coming days.
Our plan is to begin building these next Thursday, 28th October during our Science lessons so any cardboard and milk tops will need to be in by then!
We will also be testing them, recording and then uploading them to See Saw for you all to check out!
I am hopeful that you might have a few boxes lying around that you may wish to get rid of as I will supply the students with the other things they need.
A massive thank you to those parents that have already sent in milk bottle lids! All donations are gratefully received!
It would be great if you could have a chat with your child about their understanding from today's lesson and see what ideas/plans they have come up with.
Interschool students - we will go through this together tomorrow as they missed out on this today.
Your interest and excitement in their learning is always greatly appreciated, if I can ask that you please allow the students to direct the design and execution so they can show their learning on Thursday.
Students are allowed to practice making their speed racers at home if they wish, I love when students take the time to research and perfect their design...we will be keeping it simple though!
I thank you as always for your ongoing support of our Science fun!
Have a great night,
Caitlin
