Week 2 Comin At Ya!

Good afternoon parents,

I hope you enjoyed the sunshine yesterday...we were lucky enough to spend the weekend in Binningup with my best friend and her family and we got to hit the beach and enjoy the freezing cold water. We then went over to the Brunswick Tavern for lunch...soooooo good! Highly recommend it if you're looking for a road trip destination.

A visit to Wellington Dam rounded out the day before heading back to the beach before the weather turned. Many games of Rummy O and Monopoly were played which was super fun...I am super proud but kind of bummed that Ella always seems to win at Monopoly...she is ruthless!

Unfortunately we had to head off a bit early as Tobes picked up a touch of food poisoning which was not the best way to end the weekend...fingers crossed its nothing worse and he starts to feel better soon!

SMMC Excursion - We had a fantastic time visiting SMMC on Friday and your child will have brought home a prospectus for you to peruse. If you did not receive one, please contact Fran at the office and she can organise another copy to be sent home.

The children had a chance to make a pencil holding in Wood with Mr Ferguson before moving off to check out the new kitchen facilities where they made a delicious fruit smoothie.

We then went off to Art with Miss P where we made a key chain using Posca pens...I forget how much I love these!

This was a great opportunity for the kids to try the most fun parts of high school!

Character StrengthThis week at OLC we are focusing on modelling and observing different character strengths. This week we are looking for people who show Leadership.

Leadership can be shown in many ways and by many different people - can you discuss this with your child this week and identify examples in your TV shows, movies or books where Leadership is shown.

Stationery Check In - I am sorry to keep harping on about this but there is a huge number of students that are missing red and blue pens, a ruler, glue sticks and scissors.

Over the year I have purchased these items myself on a number of occasions and I still never seem to have enough to go round.

We are still working super hard and it is important that that your child can easily access these simple items so their learning and the learning of others can continue.

See Saw - Over the coming weeks we will be adding in posts for the Religion, Writing, Reading and Art learning areas. When we put a post up this is done by the students as it is an important skill for them to learn.

Our goal is to always make sure that the posts and information is clear and easily read.

If you are having difficulty with viewing any of your child's posts, please take a moment to look at it with them and share this feedback...they get a bit sick of my voice!

Science Experiment - On Thursday we will be working in small groups to make Speed Racers. If you have any spare milk bottle lids that we could use I would be most grateful if you could send them in with your child by Tuesday!

Homework - Week 2

Your child should be completing the following each week and then bringing it in on Friday to be checked off:
  • Spelling
  • LCWC of all words (please make sure they are marked and any corrections made)
  • Sentences - they are to write 5 good ones using their word correctly in context. Your feedback on these is also appreciated, particularly if their sentence is not to Year 4 standard.
  • Reading
  • 10 - 15 minutes out loud each night.
  • Times Tables -
  • These can be divided up over the week to be completed as your child sees fit.
Just a reminder that homework grids need to be signed by yourself and if you can please mark their spelling words after they have done so that would be great.

My apologies for the error in last weeks grid, please note there is NO science project this term.

Wishing you all a great Week 2!

Kind regards,

Caitlin
