Week 3 Update

 Helooooooo,

What a weekend, isn't it amazing the difference a little bit of sunshine can make to your mood.?!

I for one felt much better waking up knowing that it was going to be a little warmer...my poor little washing machine got a workout, beds were stripped and the flannies were put on the bench in time for the cotton comeback!

I've either gone too early and we will all freeze or I have totally smashed this adulting gig!

An afternoon spent down at Karridale with one of my first teaching buddies and his family was a beautiful way to close out a thoroughly satisfying day! I am not too sure about croquet on the lawn...the hockey player in me just wanted to go full Happy Gilmore!!

Wide open windows and fresh air means a trip to Bunnings to welcome some more indoor plants to the family...it is the simplest things for sure!

I hope that you have all enjoyed some Vitamin D and are feeling happy and well ready for a new week of all things learning in 4DEL!

A few reminders...

Speed Racer Investigation - This Thursday it will be the 4DEL Qualifying Round for the Speed Racer 5000...all students will be creating their own speed racer from cardboard, milk bottle lids, skewers and tape. I sent a post about this last week outlining what the students need to bring in - check your messages for the link!

Students will need to bring in their own cardboard to use, if you have any extra, please feel free to send it in with your child to be shared amongst the students.

Also, if you have any spare milk bottle lids we would be grateful...we need a minimum of 212!!!

I am super mindful of giving the students plenty of time to plan and perfect their designs so this may carry over a couple of weeks depending on how our first session goes!

We will be putting this up as one of our See Saw posts for you to check out so stay tuned!

Grandparents Day 2021 - We are super excited to welcome our grandparents back to school on Friday 29th October beginning at 1.45pm for a walk around/show and tell style afternoon before joining us for assembly beginning at 2.10pm with the 1K assembly.

Please make sure that you have spread the word, it would be wonderful to see as many grandparents as possible.

Year 4 Assembly - The Year 4's are combining forces to present a joint assembly item on Friday 5th November. This is perfect timing as it ties in brilliantly with our planned Wellbeing Week. We would love for you to join us if you are able to, assembly will begin at 2.15pm on the Friday.

All students in the school are being asked to wear a positive message themed or coloured T-Shirt or just a shirt that makes them feel happy. We are asking our Year 4's to add to this for the afternoon with a 90's style hat, bandana, gangsta chain or anything else that you can think of!

Wellbeing Week - As mentioned above, as part of our Wellbeing initiatives within the school we will be hosting a week of events that will help the students to focus in on their wellbeing and learn more about the kinds of things that help them to feel good.

These activities will be planned around our learning program for the week and will include things like - yoga, mindful moments in walking or meditation, sound meditation and tapping.

It promises to be a wonderful week!

Uthando Dolls - Ben and I would like to thank you all for your support of this fantastic initiative.

We will work with those students that still have some work to do to finish their dolls in preparation for delivery at the end of the term.

This simply would not have been possible without your support and we are so very very grateful...your Wednesday afternoon's are now your own again!

Thank you all for a great start to the term, I hope you have a great week!

Caitlin
