Week 7 Is Here!

Good afternoon parents!

Here's to another week...the weather is definitely feeling a little Melbourne like with all the season in one day! Grateful for the rain coming down to give the gardens a big drink though!

On Saturday Amie Meyer, Isobel Christie and myself, attended an online PD run by Rebecca Perkins of My Special Child. She is a specialists in supporting neurodivergent children with a focus on ADHD and Demand Avoidance.

This gave me a fantastic opportunity to gain a better understanding of the struggles that children with specific learning difficulties, diverse needs or behavioural challenges may experience and how I can best support them to achieve their full potential within our classroom.

It was very informative and I was super grateful for the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and skill set.

A few reminders for the coming week...

Lunchtime Funtime - This week and the remaining weeks of term, Mr Torrese will be coordinating a couple of different activities for the students to participate in. On Wednesday the students will the opportunity to participate in the Sketch up Challenge Grass Area outside Hall.

Candle Stall - Christmas Gifts for sale on Tuesday, students will need to bring money to purchase the candles from Georgia Breheny.  All money that she raises will go to charity, which is very generous of Georgia!

There are signs that have been placed around the school with what is for sale as well as prices. I will keep any purchases safe so there is no risk of them being damaged.

Character Strength of the Week - This week as a school and class we are looking at times where display the character strength of Prudence...feels old fashioned but I love this one!!

St Vinnies Appeal - A massive thank you to those that have already donated some goodies, just a reminder that students in Year 4, 5 & 6 are being asked to donate  Christmas Goodies: Chocolates, tinned fruit, non-perishable fruit juices, nuts, small gifts, pampering items, vouchers (K-Mart, coffee, etc).

See Saw Updates - Just a reminder that the purpose of See Saw is to provide you with information about how your child is progressing over the semester.

I am currently working on preparing your child's end of semester report which will contain a grade for that learning area, attitude and effort markers for each learning area, as well as social and emotional indicators to give you an overview of how your child is working within each learning area as well as a general comment.

I am hopeful that the work that has been posted on See Saw plus the end of semester report will give you a strong overview of the progress that your child has made as well as any future goals for them to work towards.

I have had a couple of emails from parents asking for a meeting in the coming weeks to check in on their child's progress, I am more than happy to meet with you if you wish.

Please note that I will make a request for a meeting with you if your child will be receiving a D grade overall in either the Maths or Literacy learning area.

Wishing you a great week 7!

Kind regards,

Caitlin.
