Week 4 Has Arrived

Welcome to Week 4!

As always, I hope you enjoyed the weekend and your team won...whichever one you follow!

There is a lot on this week so I will focus on reminders and keep it brief!

Potato Art - Last week in Art we discussed how symbols can be used to represent things in pop art which is the topic that we are looking at in Art this term and how these symbols can be used repetitively to create a piece of art.

We brainstormed different things that the students value and what symbols they may use to represent them - family, friends, sport etc.

They then spent the remainder of the lesson brainstorming their things of value and what symbols they could use to represent them.

Students were asked to take their art books home to finish working on their symbols, ready to carve into their potatoes to bring in to class tomorrow - Monday 16th May.

The reason that we have asked for this to be completed at home under your supervision is because of the use of sharp knives or cutting implements - completing this in class as a whole group would be impossible to do safely.

The students will then choose a symbol/s to carve into their potato to use as a stencil/stamp to create their piece of art tomorrow. They can make as many or as few as they like and use them to create a piece of art to represent things they value.

I am super excited to see the end result - stay tuned!

4DEL Performance Assembly - We will be presenting our item this coming Friday 20th May beginning at 2.15pm in the hall. We are so excited to say that parents and family members are welcome to attend!

There are a small number of main roles - Wonder Woman, Super Man and The 4 Ghost Busters! Please check in with your child to see if they have been chosen in one of the roles - please keep the costume simple, nothing too elaborate or stressful for you!

All other students are to wear a plain white t-shirt with black bottoms (shorts/trackies/leggings are fine) but come dressed as normal in their regular sports uniform. We will get changed after lunch ready to perform!

If you can please make sure that your child is practicing their reading - all students have reading parts as well as our dance! I have placed this on Teams for them to look at and practice.

We will be rehearsing on a number of occasions this week and I want the students to feel happy and comfortable so they can enjoy the experience on Friday.

Book Fair - Mrs Kemp is once again organising this fantastic event!

  • Where: The hall
  • When: Tue 17th / Wed 18th May
  • Time : 8 – 8.40 am.     3-4pm (Children will be able to come in at lunch time as well.)
  • What: There will be a very simple competition again this year for Kindy – Year 6.
  • Entries will randomly be drawn after lunch Wednesday and will win a book of their choice from the fair.
  • All children can enter, irrespective of whether they buy a book or not.
Winter Appeal - A very enterprising Year 6 student is looking to galvanise us into clearing out our linen presses of all the blankets and doonas that currently don't have a bed to live on.

This Winter Vinnies appeal will provide emergency relief to people at risk and experiencing homelessness. Your donation will help our Vinnies volunteers to rebuild lives.

If you have any items that are no longer needed they can be taken to the main office by Friday 27th May.

Wishing you all a great week as always, stay healthy and I look forward to seeing you on Friday!

As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Kindest regards,

Mrs Delane
