Week 6 - Term 1
Good morning parents,
Welcome to Week 6, I can't believe the first term is almost over. It has gone so fast!! I hope that you stayed out of the rain on the weekend...I was lucky enough to go to Leeuwin to see Paul Kelly...amazing!
REMINDERS – WEEK 6
Swimming
Lessons – Began without a hitch, thank you very much for
making sure that your children had all that they needed…it was absolutely
gorgeous down there today!
Parent
Help Needed – I am looking for some help with our reading groups
on a Monday and Tuesday at 9am beginning next week. I would need you for
approximately 30 minutes.
You would be there to provide supervision, reading and
literacy support to a small group of students…no previous experience necessary!
You would have a group leader and a very clear explanation of what the students
need to do.
I will put a roster up outside our class for the
remainder of the term, if you are able to come in for any time, it would be
greatly appreciated! I can not guarantee that you will be placed with your
child for this time as we have a set schedule that the students work through.
Please don’t feel bad if you are unable to help because of work or younger
siblings or other commitments, I completely understand!
Harmony
Day – Friday 29th March. There
was some information included in my post last week from Julie Birch asking for
any parents who may have been born in another country and might have some
stories, art or activity to share. Please contact her directly if you can help
– Julie.birch@cewa.edu.au
I will be hosting a group in my room on this day that will be making Friendship
Bracelets – I would love a couple of parent helpers to come in for this time to
lend a hand. Please let me know if you are able to help!
OUR LEARNING – WEEK 6
Once again, we have been very busy in Year 4, in our
literacy lessons we have published out good copies of our setting descriptions
and they are fantastic…we have now moved on to looking at resolving the
problems that appear in our stories and how we can make sure that we layer them
into our story to keep our reader engaged and guessing!
In our Friendology session last week, we discussed the
importance of positive thinking and the impact that a Power Statement can have
on our thinking. Your child may have brought home their power statement with
them today, I have asked that they place them somewhere that they will see it
easily. I have asked them to ask permission before blu tacking onto walls!
There were some great phrases chosen – when said with the accompanying power
pose it can help turn negative thinking around. Come in and check out our
display!
HOMEWORK - WEEK 6
Please see below for the homework assigned for this week. If you can please support your
child to complete all parts of their homework each week. This helps with their
personal organisation reduces anxiety of getting in trouble when it is not
done.
1. Reading -
Students are to read for 10 minutes each night and enter it into their Reading
Log. They are to bring it to you to be signed each night.
2. Timetables practise 6's - The
students are to practise at least 5 times throughout the week at home. Please
sign their Homework log when you have done this.
3. Mental Maths- Complete
Unit 5, p 10&11. This will be marked in class each morning so
please make sure your child includes this in their homework folder every
morning.
4. Spelling - the students are to complete LSCWC with their spelling words each night. There are no dictionary definitions this week as these words are repeated due to an interrupted week last week.
Enjoy this beautiful weather!
Mrs Delane
