Week 2 Update

Welcome to the week...what another beautiful weekend.

I hope that for those of you involved in winter sports that everything got underway okay!

I thoroughly enjoyed sitting down at the club on Friday night after sorting the final bits for the Women to watch the Year 4's play...such a great vibe! Huge fan of the dinner options available as well!!

I am not sure if you have already heard but Ben's partner's mum passed away on Saturday.

She had been very sick for a long time and it has been a difficult few weeks...this has unfortunately been compounded with Ben testing positive for COVID so he will be absent all week whilst he recovers and makes plans.

I know the last few weeks have been really difficult for many people with illness and isolation and all the things that go with it...I am personally, just waiting and this in itself is tiring.

I hope that you all stay well...please let me know if you or your child needs any extra support.

A few reminders for the coming days...

Winter Uniforms - this is the final week to get pants and jumpers sorted.

I do realise that there may be some delays and of course that is absolutely fine...as mentioned previously it may be helpful for your child to have their jumper in their bag to pop on in class as we still need to keep the room well ventilated.

Illness/Absentee - A reminder please to make sure that if your child is not well that you keep them at home, as a working parent, I do appreciate this is not always easy to do but it is tough for the kids to be sick at school.

Additionally, if your child is away...I really appreciate an email to let me know but please do follow this up with an online absentee form. It is important that all absentees are accounted for!

Hero Project - In class last week, your child completed their Character Strength Survey. This will be one of the activities that we discuss this week with looking to see what their top 5 strengths came out as.

They downloaded their PDF so please feel free to have a look and discuss them with your child - we will then be using this to begin our Hero Project in which the students will choose someone that they know and research and share why this person is their hero and an inspiration to them, also looking at their character strengths and how they use them.

Our assembly item next week will based on this so stay tuned!

Further details around this will be shared with the students later this week and they will work on this in class and then will share their Hero with their classmates in a presentation later in the term.

Homework - Week 2

This week kicks off our new set up for the term. The students had this explained to them on Friday and I will explain it further below.

Reading - Your child has a paper copy of their reading log that has been glued into their Homework Books. In it, they are asked to write their book in and answer a question related to the book that they are reading.

They have been given a copy of the questions and glued it into their books - they can choose a question that appeals to them and there are options for fiction and non-fiction books.

Times Tables - This remains the same as last term, again a copy of the set up expectations is on the Welcome section on One Note.

Please make sure that you are marking them particularly on a Monday so that your child is getting them correct straight off the bat!

All homework is due in on Friday.

Wishing you all a great week!

Kindest regards,

Mrs Delane
