Term 3 Week 5 BLOG

KAYA!

It is our assembly item next Thursday and due to book week, sport incursion in the afternoon and Covid the previous assembly item planned with Mrs Delane will not go ahead.

The item will be a celebration of each child's favourite book or book character. They will each have a turn speaking on the microphone and will plan out what they would like to say in class about it. 

Assembly Item 

WHEN: Thursday 25th August (week 6)

WHAT: Book week character dress up 

TIME: 10.15 am 

WHERE: Hall 

WHO: Parents are welcome to attend. It will only be with the year 4 classes and not the whole school. I will record each child individually and post it on their Seesaw page. 

Sport Incursion

On Thursday afternoon during sport lessons both year 4 classes will partake in cricket / AFL sessions  by SEDA College. They will need to have sneakers to participate and some students may need to change depending on their book week costume. 

Merit Certificate Awards

Congratulations to Milla and Saskia who received the merit certificates in weeks three and four!


Mission Markets

The school raised $2188 for the Caritas to send to Ukraine.

Go od afternoon parents, Mrs Horrocks has asked for me to post some information about the upcoming Musical 'Go Fish' on Friday 8th June (Week 6) this term.  If you have any questions about the performance, including costumes or the logistics of the musical then Mrs Horrocks is the person to ask! Week 5 Update - Hump Week!

Good afternoon parents, For those looking for an embarrassing or dramatic story this week, I am sorry to disappoint!  This weekend has been all about a bit of family time and for me, catching up on a the last two Matthew Reilly novels...knocked those out yesterday so hit me up if you have any recommendations!  I also finished the Will Smith autobiography this week if anyone is looking for a really great read! It has been an interesting week trying to process what is happening here in WA as well as what is happening overseas...I can't even imagine what it must be like for families just like us to be gripped by war.  Like many parents, I am struggling  to explain it to my own children who have some grasp of what is happening but also a child like fear as well...I just don't know what to say? With this in mind, you may have seen on Facebook that as a school community, we are offering families the opportunity to attend a prayer vigil on Wednesday afternoon...

Good morning, I have a couple of late additions to our blog for this week, please see the below.  Crazy Sock Fundraiser - Please remember that OLC will be participating in a Crazy Sock Day fundraiser for Catholic Mission Australia.  We would love to see your child's crazy socks and a gold coin donation. Walkie & Wheelie - A reminder for your child to drive the foot falcon to school today and tomorrow if they can! Saint Vincent De Paul Collection -  Each year at OLC we take time to be thankful for our blessings and to assist those local people in need by contributing to Christmas Hampers distributed by the St Vincent De Paul Society to families within our community.
